Calor Autogas, the UK’s leading supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has joined forces with Motor Sport Developments Ltd (MSD), the internationally acclaimed motor sport company to offer Autogas conversions to fleets, local authorities and taxi drivers. MSD are currently responsible for the Hyundai World Rally Championship Team and promise to bring the same quality and engineering pedigree to the LPG industry.
As one of the UK’s largest independent automotive engineering companies, with a dedicated, cutting edge engineering facility, the company will be able to potentially convert up to 150 vehicles a week, offering fleet operators an unrivalled Autogas conversion service, which will set industry standards.
The company’s Leighton Buzzard site is also equipped with the latest specialist testing equipment, including a fully equipped emissions testing laboratory. These resources enable the company to conduct emissions testing on newly converted vehicles, allowing them to be registered on the Powershift register and become eligible for a grant of up to 70% of the conversion cost.
Adrian Scott, marketing director at MSD said: “We decided to investigate Autogas conversions just over a year ago as we saw this as a real growth sector with a need for conversion capabilities. From the start we have worked closely with Calor as they are the industry leader and have consistently led the Autogas argument.”
Commenting on the MSD partnership, Paul Oxford, Calor Autogas, sales development manager said:
“With MSD offering this pioneering conversion facility, fleet managers can be confident that they are dealing with converters of the highest level of expertise. With MSD’s emissions testing facilities, Autogas conversions have reached a new level of capability for the fleet sector. This initiative is also proof that Calor is continuing to be a driving force, raising industry standards and developing the conversion network.”
“Fleet managers can see that the arguments for conversion to Autogas are clear. Increasing choice in manufacturers models, clear cost and environmental benefits, further cost advantages from on site bulk tanks supported by a rapidly expanding retail infrastructure, together with advice and support at local level,” said Paul.
MSD has been involved in the development of vehicles for over 12 years. In the nineties MSD was responsible for developing and running race cars for both Honda and Peugeot in the prestigious British Touring Car Championship. Since 1997 MSD has exclusively developed and run the Hyundai rally team for the World Rally Championship.
