calor Continues to Drive the LPG Agenda

The past year has seen calor reinforce its position as the UK’s leading supplier of LPG. Calor’s nationwide network and unequalled distribution capability already delivers the industry’s highest standards of customer support. In addition, Calor has reinforced its strengths in the fleet sector and developed the UK’s retail infrastructure as well as opening up new markets for sales of LPG.

Highlights include:

  • BAA’s purchase of a fleet of new Arriva buses for Gatwick Airport – the largest single order of new LPG buses to date in the UK and the largest bunkered Autogas refuelling site.
  • Ongoing development of the retail Autogas network – one LPG installation per day during 2000. Autogas Ltd, a joint venture between calor and Shell, is installing 200 LPG refuelling stations at key Shell sites, with 67 full service station sites already installed over the past year – representing a substantial investment in the refuelling infrastructure. There are already 200 calor retail sites across the UK.
  • Successful lobbying alongside the LPGA to make the case to Government’s Green Fuels Challenge for duty reduction on LPG as a more environmentally-friendly fuel. Fleet managers can therefore benefit from an additional 3p per litre reduction in duty in the 2001 Budget.
  • Continuing success in the fleet market: companies such as Everest and Racall have worked with calor to purchase substantial numbers of LPG fleet vehicles.
  • Building the refuelling infrastructure in marine gas – 28 coastal refuelling sites installed so far with a further two opening this Summer. Established Marine Gas Services, a growing network of marine engine conversion specialists. Calor’s activity in this area demonstrates its expertise and application of fleet market benefits to new areas of application.
  • Developing the LPG market in ATV with 25 bulk tanks installed.
  • Supporting local authorities in exploiting the environmental advantages of LPG in areas such as lawn mowers, grounds care equipment and generators.
