Calor Autogas has announced a link up with fuel distributor Spot Petroleum to install LPG refuelling pumps on some 50 of Spots sites by mid summer 2001.
The national retail Autogas infrastructure continues to grow in response to increasing customer demand and service station operators are reporting a rapid increase in sales in the last year. There are currently around 650 retail LPG sites in the UK and the industry target is 1,000 by the end of 2001.
The partnership between Calor Autogas and Spot Petroleum, which distributes fuels and lubricants to a network of retail sites throughout the north of England, was launched with the opening of a Calor Autogas refuelling pump at Holiways Ltd, a Ford dealership in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. The local borough councillor for environmental health, Councillor Lucy Hovvels, officially opened the Calor Autogas pump at Holiways. She was joined by John Hardy, managing director of Holiways; Paul Hardwick, sales development manager for Calor Autogas; and Barry Eastham, managing director of Spot Petroleum.
Drivers of petrol engined vehicles can benefit considerably from having their cars converted to run on Calor Autogas, which retails at around 40 pence per litre. In addition, Calor Autogas offers other significant benefits, including cleaner exhaust emissions, no reduction in performance and quieter running.
Paul Hardwick of Calor Autogas commented: "The link up between Calor Autogas and Spot Petroleum is a further example of our commitment to improving the availability of Autogas, as a low cost, environmentally friendly fuel alternative to petrol and diesel."
Barry Eastham of Spot Petroleum added: We are delighted to launch this partnership with the opening of the Calor Autogas pump at Holiways. We believe that the combination of Calors reputation as LPG market leader and our extensive retail network will prove a highly successful formula and we are very pleased to be involved in this important venture.
